JAMB Orders Candidates to Re-Upload WAEC Results: What Every UTME Candidate Must Do

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a directive requiring thousands of UTME candidates to revisit accredited centres and re-upload their WAEC (SSCE) results. The move follows inconsistencies detected in early uploads and aims to ensure that only final, verified O’Level results are used in the 2025 admission cycle.

Why Re-Upload Is Required

Earlier this year some candidates uploaded provisional or incomplete WAEC results to the JAMB portal before the official release of final WAEC scores. WAEC later identified and corrected grade-entry errors in core subjects for a portion of candidates. To eliminate any risk of mismatched or provisional data influencing admission decisions, JAMB cleared previous uploads and demanded a fresh submission of final results from affected candidates.

JAMB emphasised that the re-upload requirement is mandatory. Even candidates whose results were unchanged after WAEC’s review are instructed to re-submit; the board has made no exceptions. The directive seeks to protect the integrity of the selection process and avoid later disputes that could derail admission lists.

Who Needs to Re-Upload?

The instruction applies primarily to candidates who uploaded their O’Level results prior to the official release of the final 2025 WAEC (SSCE) results. If you uploaded your results while WAEC was still processing corrections—or if you uploaded provisional entries—you should re-upload through an accredited JAMB centre even if your grades appear identical to the final release.

How to Re-Upload: Step-by-Step

  1. Locate an accredited JAMB centre: Only accredited centres can process the re-upload correctly. Confirm the centre’s accreditation before you arrive.
  2. Bring valid ID and WAEC documentation: Carry your JAMB registration slip, government ID, and the original WAEC result notification or printout.
  3. Request re-upload: Ask the centre operator to re-upload your final 2025 WAEC results to the JAMB portal. Confirm the session and term data are correct.
  4. Collect evidence of submission: Secure a receipt or a confirmation printout from the centre as proof of upload.

Important Notes & Deadlines

Time is of the essence. Candidates are urged to act immediately to avoid any disqualification or delay in admission processing. JAMB temporarily closed its upload portal earlier in the month to address technical issues and reopened only after ensuring the system was stable. The board warns that failing to re-submit final results may lead to automatic exclusion from 2025 admission consideration.

What This Means for Candidates

Although the requirement may feel like an additional burden, it is ultimately intended to safeguard fair play and accurate selection. By insisting on final, verified WAEC data, JAMB reduces the risk of disputes from provisional uploads and protects both candidates and institutions from erroneous admissions decisions.

Candidates should treat the directive as an urgent administrative task: re-upload, obtain proof of submission, and keep close watch on JAMB updates and admission timelines.

If you need help locating an accredited JAMB centre or understanding the upload process, contact JAMB support directly or visit their official website for guidance. Acting swiftly is the best way to protect your admission chances for 2025.
