The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled a fresh round of mop-up examinations for Saturday, June 28, 2025. This special exercise is aimed at accommodating candidates who missed the just-concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), including those affected by biometric verification issues and other challenges.<\/p>\n
JAMB has also announced that candidates eligible for the mop-up examination will be able to start printing their exam slips from Monday, June 23, 2025. The slip will contain vital information such as the exam venue, date, and time.<\/p>\n
Responding to inquiries via its official Twitter account on June 13, JAMB assured the public that updates on the mop-up, resit, and foreign UTME would be communicated in due course. The board has now fulfilled that promise with the confirmed date and advised candidates to remain vigilant and follow official channels for updates.<\/p>\n
JAMB\u2019s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, had earlier disclosed during a stakeholders\u2019 meeting in Abuja that the initiative would cover all affected candidates, regardless of the reason for their absence.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cThis time, we are creating a new mop-up. Even those who missed the earlier exam due to absence will get another opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not extraordinary. In any serious system, when students miss an exam, they\u2019re allowed to make up\u2014provided there\u2019s no abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n
Oloyede emphasised that the UTME is a placement test, not a measure of intelligence or academic potential. \u201cIts purpose is to rank candidates for limited admission slots, not to test how smart someone is,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n
Addressing growing criticism and conspiracy theories about the examination process, Oloyede firmly rejected claims of ethnic bias or administrative incompetence.<\/p>\n
He stated, \u201cI take responsibility, not because I failed, but because that\u2019s leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t even realise people viewed issues around me through ethnic lenses. We must rise above such profiling.\u201d<\/p>\n
Oloyede also praised both candidates and staff for their resilience amid logistical difficulties.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had limited space. We knew if we wasted more time grieving the challenges, students would lose their opportunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In response to login-related issues, JAMB clarified that candidates who registered with an invalid email address can still access their profile using either their registration number or mobile number. Alternatively, they can visit any accredited JAMB facility for assistance.<\/p>\n
